AvocaDO Hair Mask | Hippie Series Two

Hello again! I am so sorry for the break in posts recently, my life became very very busy all of a sudden and I had to put things on hold for awhile. But don't worry, many more posts will be coming in the next couple weeks once things settle down.

Next in my hippie series featuring all natural beauty products is how to make an avocado hair mask!

Not only does avocado taste amazing but it is one of the best fruits for you. Avocado is packed with nutrients including potassium, fiber, vitamin E and vitamin B6 which are essential for you to maintain a healthy balanced diet.

Avocados are also amazing for your hair and skin! So my best friend, Justine, took the challenge with me and we made our very own avocado hair mask. The oil in the avocados is amazing for hair strength as well as shine so an avocado hair mask is perfect if you have dry, lifeless hair that needs a bit of a pick-me-up.

Ingredients
Avocado (2 small ripe, more depending on hair length/people)
Honey (1/2 cup)
Olive Oil (2 Tablespoons)
1 Egg Yolk

Step 1: Add all the ingredients into a medium/large bowl (large enough to use a mixer if you wish). Depending on how ripe your avocados are, the consistency and ease of mixing will vary. Unfortunately one of the avocados we used was not that ripe and it ended up being slightly chunky. Don't worry though, the mask will still work! Ripe avocados are the best as they have the most nutrients and are the easiest to use.

Step 2: Mix everything together using a whisk or hand mixer until the consistency is smooth.

Step 3: Apply to ends first, working your way up to the roots. You can put the mixture into your roots if you wish (best for a long, deep mask), but if you are looking for something faster I would suggest staying a few inches from your scalp. Tie your hair up in a topknot or place under a shower cap to keep your home mess free.

*This step can be fairly messy as it was for us since one of our avocados wasn't completely ripe*

Step 4: Keep on for 30 mins to 2 hours and rinse out with your normal shampoo and conditioner! For a deeper set-in mask sit outside in the sun with a shower cap over your hair or leave on until it hardens (about 2 hours). We kept ours on for about an hour.

And you're done!

I hope you enjoyed this post, we had such an amazing time making it while on vacation, take care! x
